Measuring a small car park for line marking

How to measure bays, aisles and pedestrian routes in a small car park and turn it into a realistic paint and repaint scope.

Counting metres per bay

A standard bay is not just two side lines. End lines, disabled bay details, numbering, arrows and hatching can add more paint than the first rough count suggests.

Pedestrian routes and special bays

Measure walking routes separately from bay lines. EV bays, disabled bays, delivery areas and no-parking zones should be counted as their own marking elements.

Repaint or full re-layout

If the old layout is still correct, repainting can be measured from the existing lines. If traffic flow is confusing, measure the space first and plan the layout before estimating paint.

From metres to materials

After measuring the layout, use the paint calculator, then compare hard-surface line marking paint or line marking machines if the total length suits in-house work.
